What He Should Have Been, by [info]littlenotebook.

The prompt they're responding to was: When Ianto was a little girl all he wanted was to be able to wear his father's suits. Now he does, but his family doesn't want anything to do with him. And damn, does it ever do it justice. Why? Because I really believe that yeah, this could be my Ianto, without a question.

I said snippets, so here is a snippet I liked enough to put over at [info]demotu_writes!

Title: Tempus Fugit
Rating: standard
Length: 400 words
Characters: Jack, Time
Summary: Time is unremarkable, to those who move with it.

Author’s Notes: Pretentious fic is pretentious, but when you're working with the [info]philosophy_20 prompts, it's forgivable. Unbetaed, stream of consciousness, mostly be trying to find my writing mojo again. It started out in response to the "God" prompt, but ended up being more "Time". I'm not picky!

It is a first! Just popped into my head for [info]tw100's latest prompt. Weird, because I almost never read drabbles. But oh well. Originally posted at the comm.

Challenge: missing scene
A/N: Missing scene from Meat. Information on erratics.

No, I haven't forgotten about it! I find everything I write for prompts to be a little... odd, and this one is no exception, but it wouldn't fix itself so here it is, in all it's bizarreness.

Title: Blessed Are Those
Rating: open
Length: 962 words
Characters: Jack, Eleven
Summary: After Jack leaves Ianto for the last time, he goes to say goodbye.

Author’s Notes: [info]findingbeauty requested old!Jack, after leaving Ianto at the end of AMoT. Somehow, I ended up writing some Eleven. I'm not quite sure how this went the way it did, but it's very firmly remaining this way, so here you go!

If you like genderswap, you should go check out the [info]genderbenderfic comm and especially, cruentum's prompts for their upcoming challenge, because they are ridiculously awesome and I want to see them written. I'll probably try for at least one, but seriously, fellow writers, GO LOOK.

And hey, leave a prompt or five too! I put up a few of my own.

Since we've been having a lot of guests recently, and I suspect at least a few of them are my fault, I thought I'd write up in a post the information on reading the RPG I've been doling out in comments. If you haven't been checking it out and are looking for good fic, I'd really reccommend it. The style might not suit you, but if you can read around that the quality of the writing is fabulous. It's my "fix" for good fic these days.

First, reading the current plots is essentially impossible, because they aren't necessarily even made linearly, they aren't linked together properly and there isn't a masterlist for what's happening presently.

That said, there are three finished plots, two of which have functional masterlists at the moment, plus ways to read character-centric events.

The Setting

We pick up right after Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang. Everything after that (minus Fragments) is not part of our universe (Gwen's marriage, Tommy, From Out of the Rain) though we do pull details from the second season. We're basically a series two AU. We have no particular mandate other than to be true to our interpretations of the characters, but nothing is really off-limits. That said, you're unlikely to find fluff, or smooshy mpreg, or curtain-fic here. We list to the dark and difficult, though there are definite bright and humourous moments.

Our GM is [info]xtricks, who hand-picked us all (;)) and puts a ridiculous amount of effort into designing the plots. He initially played most of the NPCs, too, although we've been dividing them up amongst ourselves a little better as of late.

Finished Plots

Night Work: Our first plot. Fairly linear, explains how Andy joins the team. A good read for getting used to the format because it isn't as intricate and overlapping as later plots.

Refugee Plot: I've linked this because it will be completed at some point. Currently the index isn't finished, so I'd reccommend waiting to read this one. It happens before the next plot, but we finished it afterwards since our female characters players were unavailable for a month. In that time, the boys wrote...

The Night Travelers: Complete, and stands well on its own. It's also fairly linear but we reused threads a lot, so make sure you move to the next one at the right time. The numbers in brackets indicate which posts need to be read at that point in the story. This story is really wonderful, and we're working on turning it into a fic. That's slow-going, so if you want to read it now, go ahead.

The Night Travelers leads into our current (unamed) subplot, which involves Tosh. Those threads haven't been pulled together in a masterpost yet, though some of us (me, at least) have linked to our character's parts of them in our character's posts. There are some stories that aren't linked to the plots, and those can be read through the character posts, which aren't visible to guests but I can link you to them

Character Board History

Captain Jack Harkness ([info]xtricks)
Gwen Cooper ([info]teaotter)
Owen Harper ([info]pocketmouse)
Toshiko Sato ([info]notevery)
Ianto Jones (me!)
Andy Davidson ([info]invisible_lift)
Martha Jones ([info]onebrightroad)

These are constantly being updated. (Or should be. Must go do that.) So keep an eye on them.

Other Suggestions

Another good place to look for stand-alone threads is the flashback forum. Most of us should be updating our character posts with those, and they're often works in progress, but they're all background threads of the characters before the setting of the RPG. You should also check out the interviews with our psychiatrist, played by [info]invisible_lift. The team bullied Jack into getting them more support, but they aren't necessarily that pleased when Jack does end up taking their advice.

ETA: We now have a working Guest Forum, where the bulk of this post has been copied, and you are more than welcome to ask questions, chat in general, or tell us how awesome we are. Or how cracked out we are, which is possibly more to the point.

So, I am continuing in my random efforts to write less-than-fluffy responses to the [info]redismycolour prompts. Day twenty-five:

was especially tricky, so of course I tried that one next. I'm not sure I quite stuck to the bounds of "Jack/Ianto", but in my mind it is, and these responses are non-conformist anyway, so :P.

Sooooo... remember how in my RPG Jack asked Ianto to sleep with Tosh if necessary?.

Well, even though she has decided not to use the device any more, due to more terrible communication on Jack's part, residual effects of the device, and Ianto's care-taking insticts, it's turning into a surprisingly adorable train-wreck.

[info]notevery (Tosh), this rocks.

Lookie lookie! I got a present for Christmas (well, Yule for her and Christmas for me) - a present of porn, how fabulous is that? It's Jack/Ianto/OFC, though the O part of OFC is up to you. Thanks so much to [info]onebrightroad for the continuation of Christmas joy!
